Russian authorities have continued their intimidation of Mikael Storsjö, Secretary of the Finnish Anti-Fascist Committee. The Russian Foreign Ministry asked the UN Security Council's so-called Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee to add Mr Storsjö on its list of international terrorists. Britain, France, and Luxembourg blocked Moscow's request, however.Russia's ruling regime has committed war crimes against its own citizens, launched a war of aggression against a neighbouring country, and has carried out assassinations of its political opponents in other countries. In Finland, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has in a brazen manner tried to intimidate Mr Storsjö and members of his family.
The Finnish Anti-Fascist Committee values Mr Storsjö's long-term work in defence of human rights very highly. Our association condemns Russia's state terrorism, human rights violations, and totalitarian intimidation tactics. We call on Finnish public opinion to join in our condemnation of Russia's illegal actions both in Russia and in our own country.
